MN Tax Payers League Report PDF Print E-mail
Written by Spence Fasching - Editoral

The MN Taxpayer's League has issued their scorecard for 2009.

http://www.taxpayersleague.org/pdf/legscorecard2009.pdf

I would like to thanks Representatives Bruce Anderson (Buffalo / 19a), Mark Buesgens (Jordan / 35b), Tom Emmer (Delano / 19b), Tom Hackbarth (Cedar / 48a), Joe Hoppe (Chaska / 34b) and Joyce Peppin (Rogers / 32a) for scoring *100%* on their Scorecard.

Conversely, I would like to express my extreme displeasure with our representation here in Sixty Two.   Senator Patricia Torres Ray, Representative Jim Davnie (A side) and Representative Jean Wagenius (B side) all scored a *zero* this year on their score cards.  They consistently voted to take money out of your pockets and line the government coffers instead.

In these economic times, especially in the City of Minneapolis, where the median income is lower than many areas of the state, protecting our hard earned income is of utmost importance.  Raising taxes on Minnesota families, especially low-income working families is not what needs to happen, especially now.

Senator Torres Ray and Representatives Davnie and Wagenius - I am officially disappointed by your votes against the citizens of Minnesota and specifically against your constituents.  Stay out of our wallets.

I hope all of you are doing well, and enjoying the warm weather. Minneapolis is my favorite place to be in the summer time months. I’d like to share some information about Minnesota’s Political Contribution Refund program. Under this program the State of Minnesota refunds a one time political donation up to $50.00. This program is not going to be around for much longer, so it is important that you get your donation in soon. If you get your check in by June 30th, you’ll be reimbursed one time up to $50.00.

As an advocate of Limited Government, you’re probably upset about the idea of a government handout like the PCR program. Consider this program a Tax Refund. All of the people that are going to be donating to us, are probably paying in too much taxes anyhow. Furthermore, don’t you think the best way to spend government money, is on shrinking the size of the government?

Help us get back to winning elections in Minneapolis, send those checks in!  Please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are thinking of doing a PCR donation to the SD62 Republicans.

For more information on this program please visit the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Thanks to Corey Sax  - Chair of SD59 - for most of the content of this article!

Written by Chuck Halverson
Wednesday, 31 December 2008 18:00

State Representative Paul Kohls (District 34A) as proposed a Minnesota spending freeze in response to the $5.2 billion deficiet. Representative Kohls simply stated is the state will spend the lesser of the $34.6 billion being spent in the current biennium, which holds the budget constant, or the projected revenue for the next biennium, which incorporates into the budgeting process the current economic conditions.

In order to allow Minnesotans to voice their opinion regarding this proposal Rep Kohls has set up a website that explains his proposal, and contains an online petition to allow people to express their suport. Rep. Kohls new website is www.mnspendingfreeze.com. Please visit this website and express your support.
