Annual Picnic and HD 62A Endorsing Convention
Written by Dan McGrath
Friday, 09 May 2008

It's about time for the Senate District 62 Republicans annual picnic. This year, like many past years, the picnic will be at the Minnehaha Park pavillion.

The picnic will be on Thursday, June 12 2008 starting at 6:30 PM. Please bring a dish or treat to share.

SD 62 will provide charcoal, meat, pop and condiments. A donation of $5 per adult, $3 per child or $20 per family is suggested. If you make a donation, it's refundable through the State Political Contribution Refund Program.

This event will pull double-duty. Delegates from HD 62A will have an endorsing convention to participate in as well. Delegates to SD 62 from the 'A side,' elected at precinct caucuses will have a vote to endorse a candidate for State House of Representatives.

Neighborhood Association Elections
Written by Chuck Halverson
Sunday, 20 April 2008

One of the ways to stay involved with local politics is to serve as a board or committee member in your local neighborhood association. There are several associations with elections coming up. You don’t have to be elected to serve as a committee member however, and this is a good way to learn about the organization and how they influence elected officials.

Several links have been added to the Senate District 62 web site (www.sd62r.com) to help you learn more. If you are unsure what neighborhood you reside in, you can click on the link for Minneapolis Neighborhood Profiles. After finding your neighborhood click on the appropriate link for your neighborhood. Note that some associations represent more than one neighborhood.

One reason to get involved in your neighborhood organization is the influence these organizations have with elected officials and the Neighborhood Revitalization Project. These people and organizations have significant control of where the money is spent in your neighborhood. I would urge everyone to explore the NRP link.
